Additional drivers are allowed, at a cost of 3.50 EUR/day. The vehicle should be used only by the drivers mentioned in the rental agreement. The vehicle is forbidden to be driven by the people who are not indicated in the rental contract.
As a payment form of rental cost we accept credit cards Master and VISA, debit cards and cash.
For a pre-authorization transaction we accept only credit MasterCard and VISA.
Pre-authorization or deposit is a temporary reservation (not charge) of the amounts that guarantee a driver will pay for possible rental added expenses such as vehicle damages, fuel loss, penalties or any other unforeseen costs. The height of the deposit depends on the vehicle category, rental period, and insurance packages. A Credit Card used for preauthorization must be in a driver's name.
Our rental vehicles come with Third Party Liability Insurance, Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection but we believe it is in your interest to add an extended insurance package and reduce your liability. If you make that decision after your online booking, you can always add insurance when you pick up the car at our Heraklionairportrentacar station.
Third-party liability insurance is a coverage that financially protects you if you're responsible for damages or injury to another person or their property. If you have insurance through a third-party insurance provider (a credit card or insurance company) you will pay Heraklionairportrentacar for any damages and then get refunded through your insurance provider.
Maximum of approx. 1,220,000.00 EUR for personal injury.

Collision damage waiver is a vehicle renter's liability for damages to a rental vehicle in an accident. It varies from 700.00 to 2000.00 EUR, depending on the rental vehicle category. In addition to the excess amount, an Administration fee of 72.00 EUR will be charged. In cases the damages have been caused by an act of negligence, alcohol or other narcotic substances consumption or serious traffic rules violation, the renter will be responsible for the full amount of repair cost or full vehicle value in case of a vehicle total loss.
This coverage reduces a vehicle renter's liability for damages to a rental vehicle in an accident. At the time of pick up, you will be offered insurance excess reduction. The additional cost is quoted on our reservation system.
CDW with reduced excess does not cover wheels, tires, the underneath of the vehicle, damages of interior accessories, nor does it provide cover in case of negligence, for damages caused under influence of alcohol or other narcotic substances as well as in case of theft of the rental vehicle.
Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) covers the body of the vehicle and all collision damages. The Renter's liability for damages is only the Administration fee 72.00 EUR. SCDW does not cover glass, tires, the underneath of the vehicle, damages of interior, damages in case of negligence, or caused under influence of alcohol or other narcotic substances as well as theft of a rental vehicle.
Renter’s liability in case of theft of a rental vehicle or its parts varies from 700.00 to 2000.00 EUR, depending on the vehicle category, plus the Administration fee 72.00 EUR. In case the keys, remote control or registration certificate are stolen, the vehicle renter will be responsible for its full value.
WUG insurance covers damages to wheels, glasses and the underneath of the vehicle except in cases of any intentional damages, negligence of the driver, use of a rental vehicle under influence of alcohol or drugs, off road and forbidden areas for driving. In the case of a flat tire, the renter is responsible for transporting the vehicle to the nearest tire shop to have the tire replaced or fixed.
In case of an accident, a renter must immediately inform Heraklionairportretnacar. If there is a third party, renter must also call the police. The Police report must be brought to the local office if there is a damage or a missing/stolen vehicle part.
A damaged vehicle will be replaced with a similar one depending on availability and the distance from the closest station. If the accident happened due to driver's fault/negligence, the immobilization, administration fee and transfer of the vehicle will be charged. The above charges may exceed the CDW excess and are not refundable.
Breaking down in a rental vehicle is unusual, as the vehicles tend to be quite new and well-maintained. But if a breakdown happens to you, first find a safe place and immediately get in touch with Heraklionairportrentacar to a phone number on your rental document We will arrange roadside assistance and recovery or replacement of the vehicle. In case of a vehicle's technical fault or damage due to misuse, negligence or other caused by a renter, the renter is liable for the direct and potential repair costs in full.
Pets are allowed in a rental vehicle after consultation with us. Pets must be crated and transported safely. A rental vehicle must be returned in clean condition and free of pet hair to avoid cleaning/detailing fees that will be applied failure to this rule.
If you have not booked the extras in the time of online booking, you can add them in the time of a rental vehicle pick up. Please note that in that case the optional extras are subject to availability and are subject to price change.
Booster / Baby seat / Infant seat: 4.20 EUR/day
Navigator/GPS: 8.00 EUR/day
Parents or legal guardians are responsible for the correct use of baby seats/boosters.
Same to same: The car should be returned with the same amount of fuel as rented at the pickup time.
Road assistance is available at Heraklionairportrentacar. It is applicable according to your booking details. Depending on the circumstances such as not relevant contact details, directions or intentional use of a rental vehicle in the areas not allowed for traffic, the rental company reserves the right not to provide this service. Road assistance is also not available for renters who used a ferry boat without written permission by Heraklionairportrentacar.
Vehicles cannot be moved between islands. If you wish to use a ferry boat, please let us know at the time of pickup. In case a hirer dismisses to inform, it is considered as negligence that voids the insurance and the renter must pay a penalty of 300.00 EUR. The damages while ferrying and driving out of Crete Island are not covered by any insurance and the customer is responsible for the full cost of repair.
Our offices official working hours are from 08:00 to 22:00. Please check your vehicle rental pick-up and drop-off hour for any additional Our of hours on our web page. Out of Hours reservations will incur a cost of 22.00 EUR
In the event of any non-notified delays, the availability of a vehicle is not guaranteed. After the grace period of one hour, the rental will be classified as a No-Show. If a hirer appears after the grace period, we may provide a vehicle according to availability but this may include offering a different vehicle and rates different to the original booking.
In case of late arrivals and non-notified delays or non-provided flight numbers staff will not wait after working time and the shop will close.
A vehicle is rented for a period as detailed on the rental agreement. If a rental vehicle is not returned within one hour of a grace period, a full additional rental day will be automatically charged as well as any optional extras such as baby seats, additional drivers or damage waivers. The charge will be applied to the card used for security deposit or payment at the start of the rental.
No refunds will be given for rentals ended early, late pick-ups of rental car, no shows or cancellations made on the same or after the rental start date and time.
Please note: the prolongation of the vehicle rental must be notified to the local office at least 24 hours before the end of the hire. Failure to this will have penal liability for illegal use and possession of vehicle.
A hirer can ask for extension to our call center or by email where the rental station agrees or not to the extension according to availability. The rental will be subject to the local rates which may be higher than the original booking rate.
One way vehicle rentals are available and a minimum hire period are two days. Check our online booking system and see the standard rate sheet for the most popular one-way rentals. Please contact us for further information.
For booking cancellations more than 7 days in advance of the pick-up time a full deposit refund will be given.
For cancellations less than 7 days in advance a 50% refund will be given.
For cancellations less than 4 days in advance no refund will be given.
Cancelled booking on the day of hire will be subject to a 100% charge.
IMPORTANT: A cancellation must be done through the MODIFY RESERVATION link on our website. Cancellations by phone are not accepted and not refunded.
A renter is responsible to cover the cost of any parking fines and traffic violations. A receipt of payment must be provided on the last day of the rental to our local rental station. If the fines are paid by HeraklionAirportRentACar, the renter will be charged the full amount of the penalty, plus a handling fee.
A valid and original driver’s license issued at least (1) one year prior to the rental date. Copies will not be accepted.
For non - EU citizens an international license is required.
Please note: we do not accept provisional or temporary licenses, and according to the Greek traffic law any of the motorbike categories cannot be driven with a car license only.
Important: If we estimate on our discretion that a driver is not safe for any reason (lack of driving skill or experience), we will refuse rental.
'AM' license category required for a moped with maximum speed of 45 km/h and maximum displacement of 50 cc. A rider must be over 16 years old.
'A1' license category required for a motorcycle with engine capacity 100-125 cc. A rider must be over 18 years old.
'A2' license category required for a motorcycle with maximum power of 35 kW, a maximum displacement of up to 400 cc. A rider must be at least 20 years old.
“A” category allows the rider to ride any 2-wheel or 3-wheel motorcycle with a power of more than 15KW. A rider must be at least 24 years old. Category 'A' is valid for driving vehicles of categories 'AM', 'A1', 'A2'.
ATV / QUADS are subject to a category B license and over 20 years age.
IMPORTANT: For non-EU riders any of the motorbike categories require an international driving license in English with the endorsement. If a driver fails to hold their license of holds a copy of it, a vehicle will not be delivered and Heraklionairportrentacar will not apply and refund.
Additional driver can be applied if he holds their original and valid driver’s license in a required category, as in the rules quoted above.
A motorbike reservation or request can be submitted on our site. We will inform you by phone or e-mail about availability and any other information you need to know before booking. Your booking is confirmed once a deposit is prepaid online. You will receive a booking confirmation by email with the instruction for delivery.

The deductible amount varies according to the vehicle category and is defined on our website. In addition to the excess amount, an Administration fee of 72.00 EUR will be charged in cases of damages.
Theft Protection (TP) Renter’s liability in case of theft of a rental vehicle or its parts varies depending on the vehicle category, plus the Administration fee 72.00 EUR. In case the keys, remote control or registration certificate are stolen, the vehicle renter will be responsible for its full value.
CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) with reduced excess significantly reduces the deductibles if you have an accident to the hired vehicle. This is an optional insurance coverage but at the same time highly recommendable. It can be added during a booking process on our website or at the time of a rental vehicle pickup. The rental company may increase this amount with regard to the age of the driver or if it necessary for any other reason.
ATTENTION: The insurance protection does NOT apply in cases:
The renter must return a motorcycle/ATV with the same level of fuel as it was at the time of the rental. In case a rented vehicle is returned with more fuel then received, we do not refund the difference. If it is returned in less quantity of fuel, the customer is charged the value of the missing fuel.
All fines and administrative penalties are payable only by a renter.
Luggage rack or a top-case are available upon request. We will inform you by phone or email about the additional cost. We do not provide jackets and clothing for the motorcycles.
Helmets are provided free of charge and are mostly open-faced. In case full-face helmets are requested, we advise you to bring your own helmet for comfort. Any loss or damage of a rented helmet will be charged to a renter at its commercial value.
Any complaint should be reported before the end of the rental period to Heraklionairportrentacar by phone, so that we would investigate it and take an according action. Our phone number is remarked on a rental contract and it provides services from 08.30-22.30h every day. Failure to follow this procedure may affect our ability to investigate a complaint and solve the problem, but also will affect your rights under the contract. Complaints submitted after the end of the rental period will not be investigated and can not be compensated in any way.
IMPORTANT: Once you sign a rental contract at the time of a vehicle pickup, you agree to all the terms quoted above and mentioned in the rental agreement.
Our Reservation system does not confirm the specifying for a particular vehicle model or color within the same category. The final rental model depends on availability. The vehicle shown on any documentation is for guidance only and may be substituted with an alternative, similar or upgraded vehicle at our discretion.
It is the responsibility of a driver to ensure that the vehicle is inspected for any possible existing damages prior to the vehicle pick up. In case the renter is not satisfied with the vehicle, he is in duty to inform the rental station to arrange to change it. Any complaints after the end of the rental period will not be accepted or compensated.
All of our rental cars are non-smoking. In case the hirers do not respect this rule, a full cleaning fee of 150 euro will be applied at the end of the car hire period plus there will be applied a damage fee accordingly, for holes burned into seats, carpets, or mats.
